Independence Day

So once again the Fourth of July weekend was one of my fav’s of the year…

I got to be all girly and spend the day shopping (for wine and jewelry) and getting pedicures (never done that before) and haircuts with my best friend…

We got to be tourists in our own city and check out the waterfront and actually go into the William G. Mather museum:

We got to eat lunch on the water at the Harp (because Hornblowers was closed down… when did that happen?):

We learned how to make mint juleps and in the process that Frank Sinatra was buried with a flask of Jack Daniels.

We got to catch up with all that has been going on and share all of our recent travel stories while sitting around a campfire.

We got to BBQ tasty shish kabobs marinated in herbs from the garden:

We got to play badminton and bocce and cornhole.

We got to play with legal fireworks (the illegal ones freak me out) and have a snap bomb duel:

And most importantly we all go to see each other again for the first time in a long time.

Great friends, Great Tradition.

And next year the 4th is even on a Friday!

  5. Oh what fab pictures of the William G. Mather. My Papa built scale, working models of steamships. Pretty sure he did the Mather, going to go confirm that with Dad. Really like the new blog masthead.
