About Me

Hi!  I"m Jeanne aka LifeInCle on Twitter and Instagram.

I am a 30-something (is 34 still early 30's?) knitter and all around creative type.  I knit.  I sew.  I dye yarn. I make things.   Like this sweater:

Rocking the hand knits in February 2010 - I knit this traditional stranded sweater in 16 days for the Knitting Olympics.  Hells. Yeah.
I was an architect and a world traveler until my life was happily hijacked in 2009 and I became a stay at home mom.

The Life in Cleveland Family.  3 out of 5 of us are wearing hand knits.
This blog is mostly about my adventures with my kids - a fashion obsessed redheaded kindergartner, a preschooler so cool he's The Dude, and our youngest, a toddler we call Tiny.

I knit and drink wine as much as possible (well when I'm not pregnant).

Thrilled not to be pregnant anymore.
I am a born and raised Clevelander.  This is my hometown.

We are raising our children IN Cleveland.  The city proper.  We have a Cleveland address and our daughter goes to a Cleveland Metropolitan School District school.  This is the city we love and we are committed to it wholeheartedly.  Even if my husband is a Steelers fan:

Go Steelers
A really big Steelers fan.
This is my husband, Matt:

Rocking the hand knits.  This is his Durrow aka the Brit Killing Sweater.  It took me 2 years to complete.  Yeah
He's an architect, too.  We sat next to each other in our very first architecture studio at the University of Cincinnati.  We were married in October of 2004:

We used to do all sorts of crazy awesome things like this:
Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu, September 2007.  We hiked here via the 3 day Inca Trail as part of a 2 week adventure in Peru.
Now our crazy awesome looks more like this:

Disney!
3 small children at Disney was way more harrowing than the Inca Trail.
We have 3 kids.  I don't always write the THREE in capslock anymore but we're still getting used to being the #Stevensonpartyof5

THREE WAS REALLY SCARY AT FIRST.

Three is less scary now they can all walk and talk?
We also have a dog.  She's a Basset Hound / Jack Russel Terrier mix that we rescued thinking she was an adult dog.  Turns out she's actually younger than my first kid.

Dog
Pictured:  Not a good dog.  But a cute dog who's good with kids so...
So yeah.  That's me.  Feel free to pull up a chair and stay awhile!

Hi. I finished my first ever fingerless mitts using your pattern--thanks! I put photos of two of my triplets (two red heads and a brunette) wearing the mittens on my lifestyle blog Bmore Energy, http://bmoreenergy.wordpress.com. Just wanted to let you know I credited you with the pattern and put a link in the post. Hope you are all doing well with Baby # 3. I love how you say that your life was "happily hijacked by your kids." I can relate as a mom of four. BTW your traditional stranded sweater is awesome!

Hi,

I am a 73 yr. old knitter, retired physician and also spin ,weave and sew. I lived for 30 years in Cleland and suburbs and went to med school in Cinti. so I was interested in your website. As I get older, I become more interested in the city where I grew up. I have a sister who lives in Brunswick, O. where my Mom lived until a few years ago. So I used to visit often. It has been awhile.

Your children are gorgeous. Thank you for your mitt pattern.

Judy
So only a few more weeks til baby #3, huh?! Congrats on that! PS - love your little redhead... she is a doll right along with The Dude!
My recent post Still Frigid
love your blog! you have a beautiful family and obviously enjoying life! thanks for sharing, have a great adventure in life!
when you do you do your thumb bind off you only have 30 stitches left & you need 32 stitches for the 2x2 rib. or a number divisible by 4.
would like to know how you got your 2x2 ribbing
Hi! So glad I came across your blog when searching for local blogs. What really stuck out to me is that you and your husband are architects (I'm an urban studies student). My uncle was an architect and I love architecture - Cleveland has a ton of wonderful architecture. I'm also so happy to hear your are raising your kids in CLEVELAND proper. I think the lines are often blurred when people say they're from Cleveland or live in Cleveland. Bravo! I'm in Buckeye-Shaker. I just moved here from Akron. Anyway, keep blogging. The local blogs have been an inspiration to me thus far. Thanks! : )

Lived in Cleveland for 13 years and we LOVED every minute - 1990 to 2002. Back home in Bucks County, Pa. now but miss the wonderful city and, of course, the good friends we made. I am still in touch and in fact have knitted a few warm infinity scarves to help them deal with the snowy Cleveland winters. Thanks for sharing the pattern. Will knit for my granddaughters 3 and 6. No redheads but beautiful blondes.
