The Shawl that Never Ends.

So.  Lots to think about on the Olympics / Ravelympics thing.  I"m loving all of your comments on it - interesting to see how the knitting community is still pretty split.  Knowing that the letter they sent really was a standard letter (here's the one they sent to the Redneck Olympics) helps.  In other news remember that Color Affection Shawl I was working on?  Yeah.  THERE IS NO END TO THIS PROJECT.

This is the shawl that never ends.

Oh it goes on and on my friends.
Color Affection Progress
I simply started knitting it not knowing what it was.
Color Affection Progress
And I'll continue knitting it forever because.... this is the shawl that never ends.

Next row same as the first.  A little bit longer and a little bit worse!
I have some lovely silk ready to go for a Summer Solstice Mystery Shawl but I promised myself I wouldn't start that until I finished this.  I'm beginning to believe that it's not possible.

So. Many. Stitches.
For those of you who have knit this before how did you deal with the last few sections of millions and billions of stitches per row?  Wine?

I think the solution is to go ahead and start the mystery shawl. Part A is only a cast-on plus 8 rows (277 stitches ea). Once you get that done, you can go back to Color Affection. I'm using your Silk Road yarn (Rainy Afternoon) for my mystery and it's gorgeous.

I'm with Connie! Part A of the mystery shawl will only take you a few hours really-and it will give you a break from the long long garter rows of the Color Affection! I too am using my Silk Road (Harvest Moon) for the mystery and it's soooo pretty!!!
So I read your Ravelympics post and dear lord. Madness I say. And I give you so many props for knitting beautiful items and spinning! I wish I could, but the last time that I did it felt like I had arthritis (I'm 21).

And I agree with Connie, totally go for the mystery shawl!! A silk shawl sounds so magical for summer =D

You are in big trouble for putting that song in my head.

LOL! But I get it...top down shawls are brutal...even when it's just garter stitch. I also say cast on the mystery shawl for some relief!

Just a reminder...it does take 3 skeins of sock yarn....garter stitch....sorry....
