Did you know that Cleveland is getting a space in the new Monopoly edition? And that you can vote here on what our space will be? How fun! Although I definitely agree with Craving Cleveland’s thought’s on what our options are. It would be an awesome recognition of the strength of our arts and culture if we had a Cleveland Orchestra, Cleveland Museum of Art, or a Playhouse Square space. But unfortunately there is no write in slot. It’s a fun website anyways, though!
Oh and by the way if you translate my blog with the gizoogle translater the sentance "I bought tha Addi Turbos so i can get mah pimp on." comes up. So true. So true.

But my new favorite website is Tom Cruise is nuts. It’s hysterical. And apparantly if you google Tom Cruise it comes up third. More good needles
So last week I noticed that one of the Brittany double pointed needles I had floating around in the bottom of my knitting bag had split…. I had heard that they have a 5 year guarantee… so I emailed the company on Friday during lunch not expecting much since it was a Fri afternoon and all..... They wrote back immediately and said they’d be happy to send me a new needle! The email said it would be here in 10 business days. Nice. Even nicer? It came in the mail last night.

what did you just call me?
An actual conversation that happened this weekend:
Me on my cellphone all proud and gloating "so guess what. I just walked out of a yarn store and I only bought the needles that I went in there to get."
Matt: "uh huh"
Me: "I ONLY bought the needles! No impulse buys! No yarn! No nothing! I have self-control!"
Matt: "how much were the needles?"
Me: "um…$17….. "
Matt: "….."
Me: "but they’re really good needles."
Matt: "You are such a yarn whore."
My husband called me a yarn whore. Not sure what to do with that…. But yeah. I have jumped. I have given in. I have listened to KDK and given up trying to knit a ginormous shawl with size 5 Denise needles. I bought the Addi Turbos. HOLY CRAP! They are AMAZING. Three cheers for German engineering! The Adamas will be done in no time. Here’s a pic:
I’m through 10 and a half repeats. Which is sortof kindof nearly in the range of being almost done! Of course now the shawl is so big it takes me literally a half-hour per row… but whatever… addi-turbos are fun!

Worldwide Knit in Public Day
So…. I was randomly surfing around the internets (procrastinating cleaning the bathroom) and I found this site:
How fun is that! It’s officially June 10th… Unfortunately I won’t actually be in Cleveland that weekend or I’d try to get a group together. I’m going down to Cincinnati for my friends’ graduation… perhaps there will be a group in the ‘nati doing this that I can meet up with? That or I could always just do my own thing and knit at the graduation ceremony… hmmmmmmm…..
Anyone out there from the ‘nati?
In other news... after much debate I decided to join Secret Pal 8. I was thinking about doing the One Skein Exchange instead but I had so much fun with Secret Pal 7 I really wanted to do another one... and there is going to be another round of the One Skein Exchange this fall... so I'll do the SP8 now and the One Skein later. That way when I get busy around the holidays I'll be in a less intense exchange...yeah for swaps!

Addiction
I can’t stop starting new bags! I didn't mention it in the previous post but Wed. night I knit this:
It’s the tote bag in One Skein… I figured that since I just blogged about the yarn I dyed I should knit something with it…and project spectrum April is almost over and I hadn’t knit anything orange yet….. so yeah. The whole thing took about 2.5 hours. Not too shabby. And it’s done!
Now just to finish the many other bags I have partially done.... I think that's my goal for this weekend...

Vacation Knitting
Well I got to knit a lot on vacation – between the plane ride both ways, the delayed flight home, and just hanging out at the condo after skiing because everyone was so tired I got lots done. Well… not really done exactly. I’m in serious ADD knitting mode… check it out:
Cable knit bag:
I knit this mainly on the plane on the way. I’ve been wanting to try a braided cable for awhile now and I had the wool ease in my stash… so I figured I’d make one of those cute little cable-knit bags I’m seeing everywhere. I pretty much made up the "pattern" on the flight and just sort of went with it - I used the same cable as in the armwarmers that I've made twice. It’s waaaay too wide for the handles that I have, though so once I knit the rectangle I quit. I still need to seam the sides, find handles to fit it, sew the handles on, and make a lining…. But it’s kindof done.
Bag to be felted:
This is the pretty typical felted bag pattern – I cast on 38 (or 40… I don’t really remember) stitches, knit until the bottom looked big enough, picked up the stitches around and then just knit straight up. I’m real happy with the way the stripes turned out! Made bringing all of that yarn with me worth it! I need to knit an I-chord for the handle but I want it to be black and I ran out of black wool…
Yet another bag to be felted:
I started another bag out of the pink wool… Our flight home was delayed and I only had with me in my carryon the stuff to make the other bag… so when I finished it halfway through the flight I just figured I’d start another one. I was real bored, though so I played around with some increasing and decreasing on the bottom of the bag – that way it will have skinny sides but be wide enough to put things in. I think I started with 3 stitches, increased every row at each end until I had 18 stitches on the needles, knit for about 24ish ridges, then decreased every row at each end until I only had 3 stitches left. From there I picked up stitches around the bag. I was real happy with the bottom but I don’t think I like the shape the bag is taking. I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do… so I started increasing at each side every 4th row… but then the bag was too wide and sloping so I started decreasing every 6th row… it kindof looks like a bubble. Eh. At least the colors are cute! I have enough green leftover to make a handle out of… I think I’ll probably twist it sophie style. Oh yeah and the green is the green I dyed while I was on vaca with the old folks…. I hope it felts ok!
So that means that right now I have 3 (actually 4 b/c I never finished the purple bag I kinda blogged about here) bags that are in various stages of completion... I really need to finish them before I get distracted again!
And the adamas shawl? Yeah. Still "working" on that.
